Best restaurants Flevoland

On this page I’m sharing my personal best restaurants in Flevoland, the newest province of the Netherlands. The restaurants are located in Almere, Lelystad and Dronten. All restaurants and food spots listed on this page have good vegetarian options.

Neighbours Kitchen, Almere

You can find Neighbours Kitchen a short drive or bike ride South of the city center of Almere and it’s worth the trip. Neighbours Kitchen serves a 100% vegan menu with Caribbean influences. They also have many gluten-free options that are clearly marked on the menu. Neigbours Kitchen has an all-day brunch and a noon to 5pm lunch. In the evenings they serve several bites that you can share with your friends. We went for a healthy and colorful sourdough toast with red beet hummus, avocado slices, ‘feta cheese’, pomegranate seeds, cucumber and seeds (you can see it at the top of the page). After that we shared this Caribbean crispy ‘flensje’ (thin pancake), it was topped with baked banana, coconut, cacao nibs and pecans.

The Black cockotoo, Almere

When you say ‘Almere’ and ‘vegan’ in one sentence, everyone will refer you to the Black Cockatoo. This lunchroom in the city center of Almere serves some great vegan lunches. The entire menu of The Black Cockatoo is plant based, so it’s not only great for vegans but also for lactose intolerant. On the menu you’ll find a delicious granola bowl with homemade granola and coconut yogurt, smashed avocado toast, hummus toast and almond butter apple toast. They also have the vegan versions of two typical Dutch warm dishes: Kroket and Kapsalon (fries with vegan shoarma). They also have platters to share and sweets. Besides their homemade pies and cakes they also serve the vegan and refined sugar free treats from Sharp Sharp in Rotterdam. They also have a separate kids menu.

Konditorei Noor, Lelystad

If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth and you’re in the city center of Lelystad, Konditorei Noor is the place to be! They’ve got all kinds of cakes, macarons and other sweets. You can have a look at the counter to see what’s on offer today and pick your favorite. My tip: go for the coffee or tea with sweets where you get 3 different slices of cake. You can also book a high tea at Konditorei Noor, one of the best spots in Flevoland to book one in my opinion.

Bistro Remke, Dronten

Most restaurants in Dronten are located at the main square called De Rede. One of them is Bistro Remke. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere and very friendly staff. The dishes are reasonably priced and they’ve also got a nice kids’ menu. On the menu are meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. I went for the stuffed portobello with brie for dinner.
