In December 2017 restaurant Eve has opened up in my hometown Tilburg. It’s located right behind the central station in upcoming area The Spoorzone. It’s open from 10 am to late so you can go there for lunch, dinner or a glass of wine in the evening. It’s right next to the new busstation so from now on you don’t have to wait for the bus in the cold anymore, but you can enjoy a warm cup of tea and just look out the window to see your bus.
Eve might be short for evening but it also stands for ‘eten voor eten’ (food for food) as a percentage of their profit goes to the world food program.
The interior of Eve is beautiful. Especially for Tilburg, where most of the restaurants have a quite traditional interior. Eve really stands out. The building (a former workspace for trains) is quite big and it gives the restaurant an industrial feel. They worked really well with different colors and textures and in the evening EVE is beautiful illuminated. Above the bar you’ll find a large installation of rotating gears.
They have several nice vegetarian options at Eve. For lunch you can go for this halloumi salad with quinoa, avocado and roasted rainbow carrots. You can also order this salad as a starter in the evening. For dinner they have two vegetarian risotto’s on the menu; one with old cheese and goat cheese and one with mushrooms. The menu isn’t very original but all dishes taste great.
Make sure you leave some room for dessert at Eve because all the desserts on their menu are delicious. They have a date cake with a caramel made from Schrobbeler, the typical Tilburg liquor. They also have their own take on apple pie served with lemon crumble and vanilla ice cream. Pictured is their take on tiramisu, it’s made with white chocolate and Bastogne cookies. The dark chocolate ice cream is to die for!
The first time I went to Eve was in the opening weekend, service was quite slow that night. Luckily they improved a lot (I’ve been back 3 times since then). And otherwise the beautiful interior makes up for everything!
