Sushi Jar
I like making new recipes with sushi. My Sushi Pie is definitely the most popular recipe on my blog, and the do-it-yourself video has been watched almost 3000 times!
My latest sushi recipe is a sushi jar! Sushi jars are great for a picnic or a barbecue. I made a salmon-avocado version for my boyfriend and a vegan version for myself. Below is the recipe for 2 lovely sushi jars and at the bottom of the page you’ll find the video recipe.
Ingredients:
1/2 a pack of sushi rice (250 grams, 1 cup)
1 sushi nori sheet
1 salmon filet (around 150 grams/5 ounce), chopped
1 1/2 avocados, sliced
1/2 mango, chopped
1 tbs mayonnaise mixed with wasabi paste
1 tbs sesame seeds
Prepare the sushi rice as stated on the package, let cool completely. Cut two lines from the nori sheet. You can use this to place at the bottom of the jars. Now you can layer the jars as wished.
For the vegan sushi jar I added a layer of sushi rice, a layer of mango, another layer of sushi rice, a layer of avocado, another layer of rice and I ended with a layer of mango.
For the other jar I added a layer of sushi rice, a layer of avocado, another layer of sushi rice, a tbs of the mayonnaise mix, a layer of salmon and I ended with a layer of avocado.
I sprinkled both sushi jars with sesame seeds. You can save them in the fridge until serving, or until your picnic!
Together with Foodie Channel I made a video recipe of these sushi jars. You can watch it below or click here for my other food and travel videos on YouTube.
