Use an avocado as a bun!
I love avocado’s! So when I saw the first avocado burgers appear on Instagram I knew I had to make one! I thought it would be quite difficult to make but it’s actually very easy.
Just cut an avocado in half and remove the pit, you might need to use a small spoon to scoop out the pit. Peel the avocado and put one of the halves upside down. I cut off a little bit of the bottom so that it stayed in place.
Now you can top it with your favorite ingredients. I used hummus, red onion, tomato, carrot and sprouts.
Of course this avocado bun is gluten free and vegan, it’s also super healthy since you’ll already get some vegetables for breakfast/lunch. And avocados have ‘good fats’, so I can’t think of a reason not to make this avocado burger!
You can make the avocado bun look like an actual bun if you put it horizontally, like pictured above.
But you can also go for a twist and put the avocado upright. It’s a bit more difficult to remove the pit, but it’s doable if you use a teaspoon to scoop it out. This way it’s more like an avocado tower!
As always, I’d love to see it if you make one of my recipes! Don’t forget to tag me @anne_travel_foodie on Instagram or @annetravelfoodie on Facebook.
