Mug cake

I love mug cake for breakfast. It’s easy, healthy and it feels like you’re having dessert for breakfast! Mug cakes are sugar free, gluten free, dairy free and fat free.
I’ve shared my basic mug cake recipe with you, and 7 of my favorite variations. So you’ve got 8 different ways to make mug cake on one page. Scroll down to the end of this page and check my DIY video to see how easy it is to make this healthy cake!

Basic Mug cake recipe

Pictured above is my basic mug cake recipe. It’s one mashed banana, 1 egg and 3 tbs oatmeal. Mix it all together in a mug and place it in the microwave for 2 minutes. This one is decorated with blueberries, raw cacao nibs and shredded coconut.

Double Chocolate Mug Cake

Look at my Double Chocolate Mug Cake for example. I’ve added 1 teaspoon of cacao to the basic recipe and I’ve topped it with melted 85% dark chocolate.

Apple Cinnamon Mug Cake

Or this Apple Cinnamon Mug Cake pictured above. I felt like having apple pie for breakfast!
I’ve added a tablespoon of raisins and a table spoon of finely chopped apple to the basic recipe. I’ve sprinkled it with cinnamon when it was done.

Carrot Mug Cake

My favorite mug cake in autumn is the Carrot Mug Cake.
I’ve added a handful of grated carrot and a handful of raisins to the basic recipe. I’ve added a teaspoon of cookie spices, but cinnamon will also do.

Serve with fat free yogurt, some grated carrot and mixed nuts and you’ve got a delicious breakfast!

Raspberry Mug Cake

My raspberry mug cake always reminds me of summer. I love forest fruits so much. I like them better than candy! For this raspberry shortcake mug cake I just added about 5 raspberries to the basic recipe.
And before serving I topped it up with a scoop fat free yogurt and all the raspberries I had left in my fridge.

Peanut Butter Mug Cake

Any other peanut butter lovers out there? For this peanut butter mug cake I added 1 tbs peanut butter to the mixture befor I put it in the microwave. And I topped it with even more peanut butter, bananas and blueberries.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Mug Cake

I’m combining two of my favorite ingredients here: peanut butter and chocolate! And served with some slices of banana to make the party complete. I’ve added a teaspoon of cacao powder to the basic recipe. After I took it out of the microwave and put it on a plate, I topped it with a big tablespoon of peanut butter and some pieces of chocolate. I served it with sliced banana and raw cacao nibs.

Red Fruit Chocolate Mug Cake

For this Red Fruit Chocolate Mug Cake I didn’t add anything to the basic recipe, just the egg, banana and 3 tablespoons of oatmeal. But I topped it with fresh berries while it was still warm. And after that I poured some melted chocolate over it. I’m sure that this mug cake will make everyone drool!
