How to make Hasselback Potatoes
Ever wondered how to make Hasselback potatoes? This way of preparing baked potatoes originated in Sweden and makes your ordinary potatoes look beautiful!
The recipe is quite simple but many people find it difficult to cut the potatoes in thin slices without cutting all the way through. I’ve got a brilliant food hack for you that will prevent you from cutting off the slices and makes it easier for you to thinly cut the potatoes.
It’s a very simple trick! Just use 2 bamboo skewers on either side of the potato. This way, when you start cutting the slices, you’ll hit the skewers before you hit the bottom of the potato.
All you have to do now is place the potatoes in an oven tray, spray them with olive oil and put some cloves of garlic and fresh rosemary in the tray. Bake the hasselback potatoes for 60-75 minutes at 180°C/350°F. The timing depends a bit on the size and quantity of the potatoes, but you’ll see that the edges will start to curl slightly when done.
You can serve these Hasselback potatoes as a side dish, or just replace any other potato dish by these beauties. They also look great in a healthy (vegan) dinner bowl. Just add some lettuce, broad beans, radishes, avocado and black sesame seeds. Or create your own salad with your favorite ingredients!
