I never went to pasta restaurants since I thought it was a dish you could so easily make yourself. But a while back a friend took me to Spaghetteria in Amsterdam. He thought it was the perfect spot for a casual dinner and he loved the fact that they have a big table in the middle of the restaurant where many people can sit at. You feel part of a big Italian family sitting at the table enjoying delicious pasta.
Since my first visit Spaghetteria has opened several branches, two more in Amsterdam and one in Utrecht.
Last week I went to the Spaghetteria in Amsterdam Oost (East). This one is quite close to their Laboratorio where they make the pastas themselves.
You can really taste that the pasta is fresh and home made, so I’m taking back my statement that you can easily make it yourself.
The menu varies daily but they always have six different pasta’s of which two are always vegetarian.
You can also order half a serving if you want to taste multiple pastas. That’s what my boyfriend did so he could try the Creste di Gallo with Tuscany sausage and the red ‘pappardelle rosso’.
In their Laboratorio they’re experimenting with new pasta colored with natural ingredients, so you might see that on the menu soon!

If you feel like eating a healthy Italian style meal you can try one of my courgetti recipes, it’s spaghetti made of courgette!
