Hotel Mercure Tilburg City Centre

I had a staycation! I spend the night in a hotel that’s just a five minute walk from our new house. People often ask me for recommendations for hotels in Tilburg, but it’s difficult to answer that for the city that you live in because you never need a hotel there. I’m very happy that I experienced Hotel Mercure in the city centre of Tilburg, because now I can send my friends and readers there rest assured. This 4 star hotel has everything you need for a city trip to Tilburg.

Hotel Mercure is located right in the city centre making it an absolutely great location for your trip to Tilburg. It’s within walking distance from the train station and it’s literally surrounded by restaurants.

When you enter the hotel you’ll notice that it’s quiet and peaceful straight away, despite the central location. It has a spacious lobby, that showcases local products. We were warmly welcomed, as you’d expect in a hospitable region like Brabant.
Please note that there are two elevators, one for room at the front of the hotel and one for rooms at the back in an adjacent building.
There are 108 hotel rooms in total, all with airconditioning, a flat screen tv and free wifi. They have standard rooms, privileged rooms and executive suites.
All room have a big photo on the wall of an iconic building in or near Tilburg.

Our room also had a relaxing armchair and a desk with a mini-bar. The bathroom was very spacious.
In the same building as the hotel you’ll also find Grand-Cafe Puur, Restaurant Taste! and the CitySauna. In the mornings hotel guests can use the facilities of the CitySauna like the swimming pool and whirlpool for free. After noon you can buy an entrance ticket with a discount and you only pay €7,95 (and for Privilege Room guests, it’s for free)

As a foodie I always judge a hotel by its breakfast, and Hotel Mercure really scored points here. The breakfast buffet is in the same area as where you can enjoy dinner at Restaurant Taste! in the evenings. Hotel Mercure as an extensive breakfast buffet with all the classics like bread, eggs, cheese etcetera. But also more exclusive products like smoothies in many flavors.

I was a big fan of the many toppings they had for your granola bowl. From raisins to mulberries and from cacao nibs to chia seeds; they had everything you could ask for for a healthy start of the day.
