Mother’s Day 2020 in the Netherlands

It’s going to be a strange Mother’s Day this year. You can’t take your mother out for brunch and you might not even be able to visit your her in real life. Luckily there are all sorts of alternative to still celebrate Mother’s Day 2020 in the Netherlands. On this page I’ve listed all kinds of options. All options can be ordered online so you can still surprise your mother this Mother’s Day.

High Tea

One of the most fun mother-daughter things I like to do with my mom is to go for a High Tea (or Afternoon Tea as it’s officially called). I love spending quality time with her while enjoying lovely finger food. This year we won’t be able to go for a high tea in the Netherlands, but you can give your mother a gift card for a high tea! You can order the high tea gift card online at hightea.nl and they’ll deliver it to your mom’s address. You can spend the ‘cadeaubon’ in many restaurants all over the Netherlands. They’ve got a special Mother’s Day deal; you get a free box of chocolates when you order the high tea gift card online.

D-Drinks box

D-Drinks has created 3 different boxes with all kinds of healthy drinks and snacks. It’s a great gift for a mother that has a healthy lifestyle, or wants to live more healthy. But it’s also a great gift for your sporty friend, or for yourself! There are 3 different boxes, but they all contain many healthy drinks and snacks. Photo album

Now that making new memories is difficult, it’s great to create a photo album of memories with your mother. It’s a personal gift, witch I”m sure your mom will love. It’s always great to think back on beautiful and funny moments spend together, and even more so in these times. There are several website on which you can create and order photo albums online. If you live in the Netherlands I recommend FotoFabriek. They were voted best Photo book supplier and they have a great Mother’s Day discount on photo albums.

Asia Home

At Asia Home you can order unique bags and cushions. They’re designed by a London born designer, who lives in Sri Lanka. The fabrics are made in India and the bags and cushions are made in Sri Lanka. Everything is produced sustainable and ethical. Marieke, the woman behind Asia Home, has visited the workplace in Sri Lanka several times. The cushions can be used inside and outside and the bags are great for travelling! If you order something at Asia Home, they’ll wrap it up nicely and add a hand-written card. Especially for Mother’s Day there are no shipping costs in the Netherlands until May 10.

Quarantaart

This lovely initiative makes sure that you can still eat cake (taart) in times of quarantaine. Quarantaart started when owner Korinna had her Birthday and wanted to treat her friends to cake, even tough they couldn’t visit her. With Quarantaart your friends can pick up a piece of cake with a personalized card from you at all kinds of nice coffeeshops and lunchrooms. And it also works the other way around, with a group of friends or family you can also give a cake to someone who’s got something to celebrate. This Quarantaart isn’t only great for Mother’s day but also when it’s someones Birthday or for any other reason to celebrate. Quarantaart is available in Den Haag, Leiden, Utrecht and Tilburg. I recently discovered that you can create your own Feestbord (party plate) online! It’s so much fun to have your own plate! I think it’s a great gift to give to your mother as well. You could use a nice picture of the two of you or a family photo for example, and it’ll be made into a real plate. The plate has a size of 60x60cm. The plate is made from water-resistant forex material. It can be used as a plate to put snacks on at a party for example, but you can also put it on the wall for decoration.

Magazine

Does your mother like to read magazines? You can make your own magazine online in the style of your mother’s favorite! You can fill it with personal pictures, stories, quotes and interviews. You can choose the size and all the content.

Xenos.nl has a special page on their website with Mother’s Day ideas. This makes it very convenience to browse for a nice gift for your mother. From cute mugs to silk flowers, there’s something for every mom.

Tasty Present
