Are you going to Amersfoort anytime soon and are you looking for foods spots that serve good vegetarian and vegan food? I’ve got you covered. On this page I’m sharing the best vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants in Amersfoort with you. All the best spots for a vegetarian breakfast, vegan lunch or plant-based dinner in Amersfoort in Utrecht can be found on this page.
BLUR
BLUR your Life is a concept store and lunchroom in one. At the cafe they work with local producers as much as possible. The small bakery around the corner, or the coffee roasters in the neighborhood. They bake all their cakes themselves and always have vegan and gluten-free cakes available.
There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan friendly dishes on their breakfast/lunch menu too! Like coconut yogurt with granola and fresh fruit or banana-spelt pancakes with fruit and maple syrup.
The Blueberry
The Blueberry is located right in the city center of Amersfoort, on the main square called Hof. It’s an American inspired cafe that serves breakfast and lunch. The majority of dishes on their menu is vegetarian and they’ve also got some great vegan options. Both are clearly marked. My favorite vegetarian and vegan dishes included the smashed avocado toast with optional feta pictured above, the vegan ‘egg’ salad and the vegan and gluten-free banana pancakes.
They’ve also got a cafe in Amersfoort North.
Bites And Store (BAS)
I have to admit that BAS, short for Bites And Store, is a bit of walk or bike ride out of the city center. But you’ll be rewarded for being adventurous, I promise! Bites and More is located in a really cool old factory hall. They’ve placed a greenhouse inside that’s filled with vintage gems. Host Arnoud will make you feel right at home while Marielle makes delicious sandwiches in the kitchen. They’ve got several really good vegetarian breakfast/brunch/lunch dishes on the menu. I went for the brown baguette with grilled vegetables, mozzarella and pesto. The mozzarella was of great quality and you could taste that the pesto was home-made.
Jeff’s
Just outside the historical city center of Amersfoort you can find restaurant Jeff’s. This beautiful designed restaurant with warm colors is great for dinner. Jeff’s is mostly known for it’s shared dining menu and there’s no problem in getting it vegetarian or vegan! I had spelt bread with miso butter, crostini with hummus, jackfruit gyoza’s, pumpkin with lentils and tempeh served with nasi and a vegan tarte tatin. But you can also order a-la-carte of course. If you do, I recommend the oyster mushroom carpaccio.
Centraal Ketelhuis
Restaurant Centraal Ketelhuis is located in upcoming area Wagenwerkplaats. And besides that I love the beautiful interior, they’ve also got a great menu. They mostly serve bread buns. You order 2 or 3 buns of your choice, optionally with a soup or a salad. There are 6 vegetarian sandwich toppings available. Three of them are with cheese and three of them are plant-based (please not that these are not necessarily vegan). I love their red beet hummus, the carrot burger and the goat feta cheese.
Other good vegetarian/vegen restaurants in Amersfoort
SEM
SEM stands for Sla en Meer (Lettuce and More) and is a lettuce and juice bar in Amersfoort. They’ve got several vegetarian and vegan salads and you can also create your own salad.
Bindi Cafe
Bindi Cafe is a 100% vegan restaurant. They work with organic products as much as possible. They’re open for lunch and dinner. I recommend the Baba Ganoush sandwich for lunch and the Sweet Potato Bowl for dinner.
HANA
HANA is a lunchroom that serves hotcakes, bowls and buns. The hotcakes look like Japanese Souffle pancakes and are all vegan. They’ve also got loaded fries and bao buns that are vegan or can be made vegan. The loaded fries are also gluten-free (glutenvrij).
Habibi
Restaurant Habibi serves mezze which is like Arabian style tapas. The Arabic kitchen’s got many vegetarian and vegan options. From hummus to couscous with vegetables, there’s plenty to choose from.
Healthy and Joy
Heallthy and Joy is open from 10 to 4pm and is great for breakfast, lunch or a piece of vegan, gluten-free cake. Their pancakes and French toast are delicious.
Dara
Dara serves Middle Eastern food in a very remarkable building, next to the famous Koppelpoort of Amersfoort. The vegetarian and vegan mezze are clearly marked on the menu. Try the Japanese pancake or the roasted aubergine!
