On this page I’m sharing my recipe for Polenta Fries. Most people in the Netherlands rarely use corn meal or polenta, if they’ve even used it once at all. I don’t believe my mom ever made anything with polenta when I was growing up. I got to know polenta when I lived in New York, where my host family made corn bread for Thanksgiving. Ever since I’m using polenta for recipes regularly. Check my recipe for my vegan Polenta bowl for example.
This time after I made polenta from the cornmeal, I made fries from it! These Polenta Fries are a great side dish or snack. These polenta fries are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.
And besides, they’re super easy to make. You only need 3 ingredients! Besides corn meal, you’ll only need water and olive oil.
Recipe Polenta Fries
Ingredients:
100 gram polenta
400 ml water
Olive oil
Bring the water to a boil. Add the polenta and stir occasionally. In about 10-15 minutes you’ll have a creamy substance. Put some parchment paper in an oven tray and divide the polenta in it. Let it cool in the fridge for at least one hour. Warm some olive oil in a skillet. Cut the polenta in fries. Fry the polenta fries in about 10 minutes on medium fire on all sides.
The polente fries taste great with some courgetti and a spicy sauce.
