Do you want to try something new next time you make a pasta dish? Try this spicy spaghetti! It’s not ‘burn your mouth spicy’, it’s more ‘add a little twist to your regular pasta dish spicy’. This pasta recipe is vegetarian and vegan if you check the ingredients of the pasta and the vegetarian meatballs that you use. It’s easy to make and perfect comfort food that is satisfying and healthy at the same time!
Below is the recipe for 3 portions of spicy spaghetti with veggie balls!
Ingredients :
250 grams whole wheat spaghetti
1 aubergine (eggplant)
1 package passata (sifted tomatoes), 500 grams
1/2 tbs smoked paprika
1 ts chili flakes
Handful fresh basil leaves
1 package vegetarian meatballs
(I used ‘Boon Chili ballen‘, because they’re also a bit spicy. Nope not sponsored for this, I just like them)
Preparation:
Prepare the spaghetti as stated on the package.
Cut the aubergine in small pieces. Heat some olive oil in a skillet and shorty fry the aubergine. Add the passata, smoked paprika and chili flakes. Warm for around 5 minutes. Set aside some basil leaves for decoration and finely chopp the other ones.
Fry the chili balls for 4-6 minutes over low fire. Add the basil to the sauce.
Serve the spaghetti with the spicy aubergine tomato sauce and the chili balls.
Bon apetit!
