Poke bowls, hand rolls or sushi rolls, you can get it all at Temakery in Amsterdam. They call themselves a ‘fast casual restaurant’ and that pretty much sums it up. You can eat in or take out at Temakery, and you can also get your dishes delivered by multiple delivery services. As it can often be challenging to eat healthy when you have little time, I love initiatives like Temakery. They make it possible to eat a healthy, balanced meal even if you’re short on time!
You can choose between a poke bowl, a hand roll or a sushi roll and if you’re hungry you can also order some street food on the side. All foodies probably already know about poke bowls. These bowls are officially a Hawaiian dish, and are created on a base of sushi rice and served with fish. At Temakery they’re taking that to the next level and offer a variety of bases, proteins, toppings (lots of them!) and homemade sauces. You can go for a more nutritious base like quinoa and they also have tofu as a protein option!
Their sushi wraps have the shape of a burrito but the content of a sushi roll! It’s a big roll cut in half, so you can easily eat it on the go. The sushi roll is a cone shaped piece of seaweed on the outside, and a variety of protein and toppings on the inside.
After you made your choice between a Poke Bowl, Sushi Wrap or Sushi Roll you can choose your base (like sushi rice or quinoa), your protein (fish, tofu or chicken), your 4 toppings (you can choose between no less than 20 toppings) and your sauce. As a final step you can add something crunchy to your bowl, wrap or roll.
If you find it difficult to choose, you can also go for one of the choices from Temakery. I went for the Veggie Bomb poke bowl which is filled with quinoa and topped with tofu, Japanese pickles, cherry tomatoes, corn, carrot and onion.
