Vegetarian and Vegan food spots in Düsseldorf.

Visiting the German city Düsseldorf anytime soon? On this page I’ve listed my favorite vegetarian and vegan food spots in Düsseldorf. From vegan burgers to vegan ice cream, and some healthy options too of course!

Space Burger

Space Burger serves the biggest burgers of Düsseldorf and perhaps even the biggest burgers in all of Germany. They serve all kinds of burgers at Space Burger, several with meat but also a large variety in vegetarian and even vegan burgers. They have no less than 10 vegetarian burgers and 6 vegan burgers. Enough to choose from!
I went for the vegan burger El Vegano, pictured at the top of this page. It’s a spice vegan burger bun, fresh avocado, vegan cheese, corn, tortilla crisps, vegan mayonaise and homemade guacamole.
My friend went for the vegetarian Hungel Burger burger pictured above, with onions, tomatoes, homemade tzatziki and a homemade vegetarian burger patty. They’ve topped it with some extra feta cheese on her request.
We also shared a portion of sweet potato fries and, considering the size of the burger, I’m glad we shared one portion!

Eisschmiede

Eisschmiede is my favorite ice-cream shop in Düsseldorf. They make all their ice-cream themselves and use as little additives as possible. The available flavors at Eisschmiede change almost daily but they always have a wide variety of vegan ice creams available. And not just the fruity sorbet flavors, but also flavors like chocolate, peanut butter and cookie dough!
Besides regular cones with ice cream scoops, you can also go for one of their bowls. We went for the vegan ChocoNuttylicious with 3 scoops of ice-cream, (vegan) whipped cream, chocolate sauce, homemade chocolate-walnut cookies, vegan chocolate chips and walnuts. We had it instead of lunch as it was such a big portion! But really, really delicious!

Make

Everything at Make Food in Düsseldorf comes in a bowl; the soups, the salads and the lunch and dinner bowls. Everything on the menu of Make is healthy with fresh ingredients and lots of vegetables. They have only a few bowls with chicken or fish, all the other bowls are vegetarian or vegan. And besides the combinations that they’ve made-up, you can also create your own healthy bowl. You start with choosing a base like quinoa or wholewheat pasta and then you choose from the many toppings like roasted portobello and tortilla chips.

Also nice:
Dean & David; a national chain of healthy fast-food restaurants. Offering soups, salads, sandwiches and healthy bowls. They have several vegetarian and vegan options.

Carrot/Cake; from Wednesday to Sunday it’s a great place to get coffee with a vegan cake. In the weekends they also serve breakfast.

Lina’s Coffee; serves breakfast, brunch and lunch. Everything on the menu is either vegetarian or vegan.
