5x new and veggie proof restaurants in Amsterdam

When it comes to meat free dining Amsterdam has a lot to offer. And there are more restaurants with vegetarian and vegan friendly options making their appearance each and every day. Susam from bysam.nl is always up-to-date about the newest restaurants in Amsterdam. Especially for Anne Travel Foodie she made a top 5 of the best new and vegetarian proof restaurants in Amsterdam. All these restaurants have only recently opened up and they have many options for vegetarians and vegans.

Meatless District

The second location of Meatless District opened last week on the Van Woustraat in the Pijp area. This plant based restaurant was one of the first vegan spots where the dishes were pretty and the interior smashing. Their decor is inspired by the Meatpacking District in NYC. You’ll find lots of steel and cool tiles here. Their first location became a huge success and now they’ve opened up a second Meatless District. This newbie is a bit bigger and has an open kitchen where you can peek at the kitchen staff. They also have a large bar where you can install yourself with a drink.

Braai Rivierenbuurt

Things just taste better after they’ve spent some time on a charcoal grill. Braai Rivierenbuurt knows this very well and brings the South African barbecue flavor to Amsterdam South. Besides meat dishes they also have vegetarian pizza’s, roasted sweet potatoes, gazpacho made from grilled tomatoes and other vegilicous stuff. The place is quite big so it’s easy to find a spot to chill. They also have a terrace where you can enjoy the Indian Summer.

Café Remouillage

After spending some time in the kitchen of known restaurants Toscanini, Vermeer*, Scheepskameel and Entrepot (the latter as sous-chef) Jonathan Sparber decided to open his own restaurant right in the middle of a residential area. Café Remouillage is a sympathetic place where you can just pop in for a bite to eat. They don’t do courses, you just pick a few
dishes you like to try, order a glass (or bottle) of wine and see how the evening goes. Still hungry? Order some more. The minimalistic and stylish place is so relaxed and Jonathan really takes the time to talk to all of his guests. Chef Barber has a clean and apparently simple style of cooking. But when you look beyond the obvious you can tell he has a lot of
experience with different cooking techniques and he knows how to put a lot of flavor in his dishes. Try the onions with cottage cheese and garlic, it’s a true delight.

Branie Amsterdam

Branie means daring in Indonesian. You can sip a bold cocktail at the bar and have some Asian snacks with it like a salad from fermented tea leafs or a no-chicken Kentucky Fried Chicken. What? Yup. They experimented for quite a while to get it just right. The chicken-like texture, the crispy but not to greasy outside and of course the right flavor. And they did it, they’ve created an awesome bite where you just can’t get enough of.

The Avocado Show Boutique

Avocado lovers will love this new member of The Avocado Show group on the Willemsparkweg. This location is more focused on take out, but they also have a pink couch on which you can install yourself for an avo meal. They have toasts, salads, bowls and sides all with the green silky smooth fruit as a star. If you’re eating in you can also have you avocado dish on their small terrace facing the road.
