Rent a Bike
A great way to get to know a city is by bike, especially if you’re short on time. In Lublin there are several spots all around the city where you can hire a bike with NextBike. You can easily pay with your credit card. I think it’s such a relaxing way to move around.
Martins City Tours
A great way to get to know the city is with a guide. Martin is an enthusiastic guide that will show you the best spots in Lublin. He’s full of energy and will tell you all the stories behind the top sights of Lublin. His English is great and because the tours are private, he can show you wat you want to see. Extra nice for the Dutchies: Martin is originally from the Netherlands, so you can also have the tour in Dutch. Click here for more information on Martins City Tours.
Cebularz museum
When you’re in Lublin, you have to try Cebularz. This onion-poppyseed bread a local delicacy. If you like how that sounds, you should really check out the Cebularz museum! During this hands on activity you’ll learn all about the history of Cebularz, you’ll find out how they’re made and you can even make your own onion-poppyseed bread. They’re open 7 days a week and got several sessions per day. Booking is recommended to make sure that you’ve got a spot. Email to muzeumcebularza@gmail.com to reserve your spot.
Cultural Center
The Cultural Center (or Centrum Kultury) in Lublin is a really pleasant gallery to visit. They always have a nice exhibition on display that changes regularly. Always with a different theme, and always with Polish artists. And extra nice: the exhibitions are free to visit!
Local farmers’ market
Every Saturday morning there’s are market where locals sell their goods. You can find farmers from the area that sell their fruit, vegetables or dairy. But also baked goods and handcrafted decoration. There’s a bar that sells good coffee at the entrance. The market is indoor, so it’s also a great activity in Lublin for when it rains. The ‘Lublin Fair’ takes place every Saturday from 8am to 1pm at Lubartowska 77, an old scale factory.
Escape Room
I always love doing an escape room! It’s especially nice when you’re with a group but luckily the Let me Out escape rooms in Lublin are also doable with two or three people. They’ve got 5 different escape rooms in Lublin, all of them are suitable for English speaking players. I did ‘Devil’s Circus’ and had a great time. It was challenging, fun and the right balance of slightly frustrating and very rewarding.
Speedway
Speedway is the most popular sport to watch in Lublin. On small motorbikes that run on pure alcohol the racers race laps against each other. The most exciting part is that the motorbikes don’t have any brakes. So especially in the corners tension is high. They race 4 laps each time, and each leg has one winner. In total there are 15 legs per evening. As it’s the most popular sport to watch, it’s difficult to get tickets, so book as far in advance as you can.
Multimedia Fountain
The Multimedia fountain can be found at the Lithuanian Square, at the end of the big pedestrian street in Lublin. After sunset the fountain is beautifully lit. But the best way to enjoy the fountain is to go on Friday or Saturday night in the summer period. At 9pm the fountain turns into a screen made of water for a beautiful show.
Tourist Information Center Lublin
The Tourist Information Center is super helpful if you’re looking for activities in Lublin. They’re located in Lublin’s old town, right next to the Cracow gate. You can just walk in and ask for tips. They’ve also got all kind of information brochures and flyers for inspiration on things to do in Lublin.
