Best ice cream shops in Barcelona

On this page I’m sharing the best ice cream shops in Barcelona. These are the best place to get an ice cream! So if you want to beat the heat in Barcelona or satisfy your sweet tooth, check out this list!

De la Crem

De la Crem in Eixample doesn’t only sell ice cream but they’ve also got pastries and good coffee. The ice cream at De la Crem is made according to the traditional Italian method. They make their own ice cream daily (365 days a year) and you can taste their love for the product. The flavors vary, as they work with the seasons.

Rocambolesc

You can find the small but beautiful store of Rocambolesc on La Rambla. It’s the ice cream shop of Jordi Roca, the pastry chef at the famous restaurant El Celler de Can Roca in Girona. He got awarded World’s Best Pastry Chef and is featured in the Netflix series Chef’s Table. And El Celler de Can Roca has three Michelin stars and was voted Best Restaurant in the World by Restaurant magazine. It’s not often that you can have an affordable meal from such an award winning chef, but at Rocambolesc you can get your super tasty ice cream in original flavors.

Caju Gelato

Caju Gelato opened up in the summer of 2023 in the El Born neighborhood. The minimalistic interior matches the philosophy of Caju Gelato. They make their own creamy gelato without any animal based products. You won’t believe how creamy they can make their vegan ice cream. From vanilla to hazelnut, they’re silky smooth. My favorite flavor is the chocolate-hazelnut. But they’ve also got some original fruity flavors, like local strawberries or peach in wine.

Parallelo

Parallelo makes Italian gelato in a contemporary way. So they’ve also got original flavors like Melon with Mint and Watermelon with Shiso. They even have a Parmesan cheese ice cream for the dare devils.
You can also buy a container with the ice cream flavors of your choice, so you can enjoy the ice cream from Parallelo at home (or at the park).

Badiani

Badiani is a luxury gelato producer where you can get delicious ice cream. They started in Italy in 1932. This Italian brand has recently opened up a store in the heart of Barcelona (near Casa Mila). At the back of the store you’ll find a glass window so you can see how the gelato is made. They’ve got some very tasty flavors; I recommend the La Dolce Vita with a base of their famous, creamy Buontalenti ice cream and a layer of chocolate hazelnut syrup on top.

Luccianos

I have to admit that the main reason that Luccianos is on my list of best ice cream shops in Barcelona is the interior. But isn’t it amazing? There’s a rocket the rises above the clouds and there’s a huge astronaut hanging from the ceiling. But apart from the interior, the ice cream is also really good at Luccianos. They’ve got scoops in all kinds of flavors, but they also have popsicles in great shapes and colors.

Gelaaati di Marco

Gelaaati di Marco serves authentic Italian ice cream in the heart of Barcelona (the Gothic Quarter). They make their own ice cream on a daily basis and don’t use preservatives or artificial coloring. They also have several lactose free, vegan and gluten-free ice cream flavors. Their Tiramisu ice cream is my favorite, and if you’re into trying something new I recommend their Chocolate Piccante.

Gocce di Latte

Gocce di Latte has two shops, one in Pla de Palau in the Gothic Quarter, and another one just around the corner at Carrer d’Espaseria. That second shop is 100% vegan. At Gocce di Latte they serve artisanal Italian ice cream, in flavors like After Eight, Chocolate con leche, Matcha and Cinnamon with Walnut.

Arigato

Arigato is a special ice cream shop in Barcelona, as their ice cream is inspired by Japan and Mexico. So they’ve got ice cream flavors like Walnut-Shiro Miso, Matcha and Black Sesame. Each day they make a certain amount of waffles for the cones themselves. They’re super tasty, so I recommend that you come early on the day. Besides gelato and desserts, Arigato also serves brunch and lunch.

Anita Gelato

Anita Gelato can be found in the Gracia neighborhood. Twenty years ago Anita and her son Nir started making ice cream and frozen yogurt for their neighbors. Soon after Nir and his older brother Adi opened up an ice cream shop and just a few years later Anita also has shops in Australia, New York, Tel Aviv and more! A few of my favorite flavors at Anita’s are White Chocolate Strawberry, Chocolate Cheesecake and Cappuccino with butter cookies. They also have vegan and gluten-free ice creams.

Snowmonster

Snowmonster serves Taiwanese ice cream, as far as I know it’s the only Taiwanese ice cream selling point in Spain. Taiwanese ice cream is shaved ice, and therefore looks like snowflakes. Because of this structure it’s very fluffy. They’ve got several flavors of Taiwanese ice cream at Snowmonster; the watermelon is a real recommendation and I’m a big fan of the chocolate ice cream. You can find Snowmonster on a very central location, near Placa de Catalunya and La Rambla.

Sweet Gaufre

Sweet Gaufre is located at La Rambla, so super central! They’ve got delicious tasting ice cream, the Stracciatella and Ferrero Rocher are my favorites. Besides the nice flavors, they’ve also got all kinds of cones. You can choose a pink or a black cone for example. Or a cone covered in milk or white chocolate and finely chopped nuts. You can also get your ice cream in a bubble waffle or in a ‘chimney’.

Ice Box

The location of Ice Box is fantastic; right at the beach! I don’t know if there’s a better place to eat ice cream than at the beach, so I totally recommend Ice Box. It’s great during or after a day at the beach to get an ice cream and something to drink.
