On this page I’m sharing the recipe for jam filled Valentine’s Cupcakes. These cupcakes look super cute and they’ve got a surprise in the center: strawberry jam!
These cupcakes will make your Valentine’s heart melt. With so much love in one cupcake, they can’t do anything else than adore you back. The cupcakes look super cute and are very tasty because of the strawberry jam in the center.
I used a few drops of red food coloring in my buttercream to get this pink color. Perfect for Valentine’s Day! I decorated the cupcakes with heart shaped sprinkles that you can buy at most big supermarkets. you can of course also sprinkle them with other shapes or colors, but the heart shapes make it a real Valentine’s day cupcake.
I made cupcakes with a surprise in the middle before. When I made my 4th of July cupcakes, I filled the center with red, white and blue sprinkles. You call these kinds of cakes or cupcakes ‘Peek a Boo’ cakes. This time it’s not something like sprinkles or m&m’s that surprises you in the center, but jam.

Recipe Jam Filled Valentine’s Cupcakes
Ingredients (4 cupcakes):
4 chocolate cupcakes
4 teaspoons strawberry jam
140 grams butter
280 grams icing sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Red food coloring
Heart shaped sprinkles
Beat the butter for the buttercream in a large bowl until soft. Add half of the icing sugar and beat again. Add the milk and the vanilla extract and beat until the mixture is smooth. Ad a few drops of food coloring and mix until combined. You can add more drops if the mixture isn’t pink enough yet. Put the buttercream in a piping bag.
Use the tip of an icing bag to take out the center at the top of each cupcake, by placing it upside down on top of the cupcake and to pull it back out. Put a teaspoon of strawberry jam in each well.
Decorate the cupcake with the buttercream. And top with the sprinkles.
