Eindhoven with kids

Looking for kid-friendly activities and restaurants in Eindhoven? You’ve come to the right place. On this page I’m telling you all you need to know about visiting Eindhoven with kids. Whether you’re planning a family day trip or a longer stay, Eindhoven offers a great mix of interactive museums, fun attractions, and cozy restaurants with play areas. From high-tech light shows to creative workshops and animal encounters, this city has plenty to keep young visitors entertained while parents can enjoy the relaxed Brabant atmosphere.

PreHistorisch Dorp

Travel back in time at the PreHistorisch Dorp (Prehistoric Village), an open-air museum where families can experience life in different historical periods — from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. Kids can try archery, make bread the old-fashioned way, and join in crafts and games from centuries past. It’s both educational and incredibly fun, with plenty of space to run around.

Motion Experience

Step into a world of light, color, and sound at Motion Experience, one of Eindhoven’s most immersive attractions. This digital art space surrounds you with floor-to-ceiling projections, interactive visuals, and music that responds to your movement. Kids love exploring the different themed rooms, chasing light patterns on the floor, and seeing their own movements come to life in the displays. It’s visually stunning, fun for all ages, and makes for some truly magical family photos.

Philips Museum

Eindhoven and Philips go hand in hand, and the Philips Museum is a great place to discover this history in a kid-friendly way. The museum takes you through the journey of the famous electronics brand, from its first light bulbs to modern innovations. Children can try interactive games, experiment with simple science demonstrations, and join the “Mission Eureka” scavenger hunt that turns the museum visit into a playful challenge. It’s educational without feeling like school, so it’s perfect for curious minds.

DAF Museum

If your kids are fascinated by cars and trucks, the DAF Museum is a must. This museum showcases the story of the Dutch truck manufacturer DAF, with beautifully restored vehicles ranging from classic cars to enormous trucks. Children can climb into the driver’s seat of some of the vehicles, explore a miniature model of Eindhoven streets, and see how these machines evolved over time. It’s a paradise for little vehicle enthusiasts and grown-up car lovers alike.

Eindhoven Zoo

Eindhoven Zoo is home to a wide range of animals including elephants, polar bears, red pandas, and monkeys. The zoo is spacious with lots of walking paths, play areas, and interactive animal experiences. Children can watch feeding times, run around in the playgrounds, and even meet some animals up close in special areas. It’s a full-day outing that’s as relaxing as it is exciting. The name is a bit misleading, as it’s not actually located in Eindhoven itself, but in Mierlo/Nuenen, and it’s not reachable by public transport.

Jungle Café

For a coffee or snack in a playful setting, Jungle Café is hard to beat. The café has a dedicated play corner for kids to climb, build, and imagine. The menu features tasty options for both adults and children, with healthy bites alongside sweet treats. It’s an ideal spot for a morning break or an afternoon pick-me-up, and kids will love the adventure-like vibe.

Ontdekfabriek

Located in the creative Strijp-S district, Ontdekfabriek (“Discovery Factory”) is a hands-on play and workshop space where kids can invent, build, and explore. From creating their own contraptions to testing fun science experiments, it’s an inspiring space for ages 4–12. The industrial setting adds a cool factor for parents too.

Speeltuinvereniging Philipsdorp

If your kids love playgrounds, make sure to stop by Speeltuinvereniging Philipstuin. This wonderful playground has something for children of all ages, from toddlers to older kids who love climbing and exploring. On warm summer days, the Spraypark is an absolute highlight, where kids can cool off and splash around in the water. Parents will be happy to know that the drinks and snacks at the kiosk are very reasonably priced, making it an easy and affordable outing for the whole family.

Speelpark de Splinter

Another fantastic place to visit with children in Eindhoven is Speelpark de Splinter. This spacious play park is perfect for sunny days, with both a swimming pool and a spraypark where kids can splash around to their heart’s content. But there’s more than just water fun; the park also organizes a wide range of activities throughout the year, such as chess tournaments, creative workshops, and even Lego building afternoons.

Fashion Club Eindhoven

Every Wednesday at 6:30 pm you can socialize and sew at Jongerencentrum Blixembosch. You can saw your own totebag. It’s especially nice for teenagers. They also organize other creative workshops regularly.

Genneper Parks (Genneper Parken)

For a mix of nature and recreation, head to Genneper Parks. This large green area offers walking and cycling paths, playgrounds, and seasonal activities like ice skating at IJssportcentrum Eindhoven. There’s also a swimming pool, a miniature golf course, and a petting zoo, making it an easy place to spend a whole day outdoors.
