As you might know I went to South Africa two months ago. I really loved it there! You can watch my South Africa video if you want to see my highlights in just 3 minutes. As a real foodie I’ve been to many great restaurant and even though the South Africans love to eat meat, I was able to find great vegetarian dishes.
Now that I’m back home I wanted to create my own vegetarian version of a South African meal. Bobotie is probably the most well-known signature dish of South Africa, it’s an oven dish with minced meat and an egg-based topping. I created a vegetarian Bobotie simply by replacing the minced meat by vegetarian minced meat. On this page I’m sharing my vegetarian Bobotie recipe and how you can win a trip to South Africa.
I’ve got the recipe for you on this page. But what’s even more excited is that you can win a trip for 2 people to South Africa if you get to your kitchen and make a South African dish. Eating a delicious dish and winning a price…I’d call that a win-win situation! You can also win a dinner for two at a South African restaurant, so there’s even more chance of winning. (This contest is only open to inhabitants of the Netherlands)
All you have to do is visit the Smaaklik Suid-Afrika page and make one of the 3 recipes on that website. You can find a bobotie recipe but also a vegetarian ‘braai’ (barbecue) recipe. Upload a picture of your dish on their website and don’t forget to share it on Facebook as well. Tag Mijn Zuid-Afrika reis and Anne Travel Foodie in your Facebook picture to get more views!
The chef will choose a winner from each dish and then you can gather votes on Facebook. Let me know if you’re joining so that I can vote for you!
