Hotel de Villa and Restaurant Winkk in Dongen

Hotel de Villa is a beautiful boutique hotel in Dongen, Restaurant Winkk is the restaurant inside the hotel. I had dinner at Winkk and spend the night in Hotel de Villa and in this blog post I’m telling you all about it.
Dongen is a small town in between Tilburg and Breda. I live in Tilburg and I always like to try out new restaurants to eat. As I’ve been to pretty much every restaurant in Tilburg, I’d like to explore restaurants in towns nearby as well. I’ve been to Brasserie VOC in Udenhout and Restaurant de Waag in Boxtel for example. This time I went to Dongen.

I booked a night at Hotel de Villa for my boyfriend and me to celebrate our 4.5 year anniversary. I wanted to book a special hotel, something romantic. Hotel de Villa is exactly that! It’s housed in a, you’ve guessed it, villa and all the rooms are unique. It’s a beautiful building that almost feels like a castle. The rooms are very cosy and every room is different.
Hotel de Villa is part of the Logis Holland group, which are all unique hotels in the Netherlands.

Restauran Winkk is located inside the hotel, but you can also enjoy lunch or dinner in the restaurant without staying in Hotel de Villa. We thought it was great that you didn’t need to walk in the cold after dinner to get to your hotel room, you can just walk up the stairs after dessert! The dishes are reasonably priced at Restaurant Winkk, so it’s a nice addition to your hotel stay.

You can choose a-la-carte dishes at Restaurant Winkk or order the 3 course menu for €29,75. I went for the vegetarian dishes. I had the beet root carpaccio with red port dressing, walnuts and blue cheese as a starter and this ‘mushroom duo’ as an entree. It’s mushroom risotto served with a portobello filled with goat cheese, rocket and pine nuts.

For dessert we both had the cheesecake. They also have other great desserts at Winkk like an apple tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream or Creme Catalana with sorbet ice cream.
