Have you already been to restaurant Atelier in Amsterdam? They opened two years ago but they just renewed their interior and their menu. I have to admit that when I first looked at the map I thought it was a bit far out. It’s located behind the Olympic Stadion. But I found out it’s less than 10 minutes by bike from the Vondelpark. So if you were considering going, the distance is not an excuse anymore!
Restaurant Atelier is located in a former Volkswagen garage and car wash. It’s a really cool, rough location. They decorated it nicely with a splash of color. They have a big outdoor terrace with picnic tables, a perfect spot to enjoy a lunch outside or drinks on summer afternoons.
But the main reason to visit Atelier is of course the food! Chef Nino Starreveld will spoil your tastebuds and your eyes with his delicious and beautiful dishes. Although there are many meat and fish items on the regular menu, he made some wonderful vegetarian dishes for me.
At Atelier the dishes are a bit smaller than a regular main dish so you can enjoy several different items. With 3 savory dishes and 1 dessert you’ll have a complete meal. Especially with the olives, bread, olive oil and sea salt served at the start. I had this starter with puffed beetroots with beurre blanc, walnut crumble, hazelnuts and balsamic. It might look a bit messy on the picture, but the taste was divine!
Before I had the pumpkin ravioli with parmesan cheese (pictured at the top of this page), I had this ratatouille with green asparagus and barbecue grilled lettuce.
And look at this beautiful dessert! It’s deconstructed cheesecake with chocolate ice cream, cookie crumble and cookie dough! This one was my favorite, but the Peche Melba also tasted delicious!
