Decorated New Year’s Eve cupcakes

These decorated New Year’s Eve cupcakes are a great treat for your end of the year party. On this page I’m telling you how I decorated them so you can also make these festive New Year’s Eve cupcakes.

For Christmas this year, I made decorated Christmas cupcakes. And I really enjoyed decorating my cupcakes with many toppings. So I decided to also make New Year’s Eve cupcakes with more decoration than just frosting alone.
I always think silver and gold are the perfect colors for New Year’s Eve, so they were my main colors for the decoration of these cupcakes. And I also like to add some stars, as they remind me of fireworks and the stars that shine at night.

Recipe Decorated New Year’s Eve Cupcakes

Start with baking cupcakes from any recipe you’d like, or buy your cupcakes in your supermarket or local bakery.

Mix three tablespoons of powdered sugar with half a teaspoon of water, until you’ve got a see-through frosting. Cover the cupcakes with this frosting and sprinkle suitable sprinkles on top. I bought white/silver sprinkles with stars in the supermarket.

Make buttercream. Put the buttercream in a piping bag and create a dollop of buttercream left of the center of each cupcake. Add golden wrapped chocolates on top of each cupcake. I got mine in a bag of Christmas chocolates that also had green and red balls.
Add one or two small cookie dough bites to each cupcake. I found a box of cinnamon roll flavored cookie dough bites, because they’re covered in white frosting the color even matches the cupcakes more.
At the end I sprinkled some more of the sprinkles on top that I also used in the beginning.

It’s also very nice to use fondant to decorate cupcakes and cut out the numbers of the new year. You can find an example here.
