Oven baked feta cheese

This oven baked feta cheese is a great dish to serve as a bite when friends are coming over, or to have it as a lunch dish for one or two people. It’s super easy to make as the oven does most of the work for you. It’s tasty and suitable for vegetarians. I made my oven baked feta cheese with vegan feta cheese cubes so this version is even suitable for vegans.

I made this baked feta with my Cheese Baker from Emile Henry. You might have already guessed that it’s a French product. They love baked cheese and I think the design is very French as well. I love the way it looks. This way you can just put the cheese baker on the table and you don’t have to transfer the cheese to a prettier plate. The Cheese Baker is often used for brie or camembert, but you can also prepare this oven baked feta in it.

I already had the idea to make oven baked feta when I got the vegan feta cubes from SoFine. And then I was browsing through my new cookbook Mob Veggie and I discovered that there was also a baked feta recipe in there. The recipe on this page is a mixture of that recipe and my own creativity.

Recipe oven baked feta cheese

Ingredients:
200 grams feta cheese
100 grams cherry tomatoes
3 tablespoons black olives (I used Kalamata Olives)
2 teaspoons Oregano
6 slices of bread
6 tablespoons of margarine, room temperature
1 garlic clove, finely chopped

Pre-heat the oven to 180C. Cut the feta cheese in cubes if they aren’t cubes yet and put them in the cheese baker. Add the cherry tomatoes, olives and oregano. If there isn’t much oil from the olives in the cheese baker yet, you can drizzle with some extra olive oil.
But the cheese baker in the oven for 30 minutes.

In the mean time, mix the margarine with the chopped garlic.
Spread the garlic butter over the slices of bread. Add the garlic bread to the oven for the last 5-10 minutes of the baking time.
