Antwerp Food Guide

On this page you’ll find my Food Guide to Antwerp. Or Antwerpen as it’s called in Flemmish. I’m telling you about all my favorite restaurants and other food spots in this city in Belgium. From brunch to lunch and dinner; continue to read my Antwerp Food Guide.

Wasbar

At WASBAR you can enjoy a delicious meal at any time of the day: breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. Be sure to try their famous Bagel Burgers and Bagels. Or do you go for a healthy Acaibowl? Or do you satisfy your sweet tooth with a delicious French Toast dish. Multitasking? At WASBAR, you can also do your laundry while meeting up with friends for a bite to eat or a drink.

ToiToiToi

ToiToiToi is for the lovers of coffee and culture. This little restaurant has a brunch and cake menu, specialty coffees and room for live music, performances or other forms of art.
On the brunch menu are a few dishes, but they’re all very tasty. I love the Veggie Viking with goat cheese. They’ve also got great coffee specialtees and several cakes to go with them. They’re open seven days a week from 8:30am on weekdays (and 9am on the weekend), so it’s great for breakfast for early birds.

Pura Vida

Pura Vida is a lovely Mexican restaurant that is completely vegan. Order your plant-based nachos, tacos, burritos and enchiladas here. You can choose your own filling, from jackfruit to vegan Chorizo. And of course you’ll have the vegan Churros for dessert.

Pasta-Hippo-Vino

Don’t be fooled by the somewhat funky name or the location (in the city center, but amongst tourist trap restaurants): Pasta-Hippo-Vino in Antwerp is a real recommendation. This Italian-French restaurants serves delicious pastas in a beautiful interior. The restaurant has been around for more than 30 years, and the historic building is much older. Pasta-Hippo-Vino is a great romantic restaurant if you’re going on a date in Antwerp.

Restaurant Fons

Restaurant Fons is right across the Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen theater, so it’s a great restaurant to have dinner before a show. They’ve got something for everyone. From meat to fish and vegetarian. And from pasta, to burgers, to more culinary dishes. I want for the Penne funghi as you can see pictured here.

Morso

Morso is one of the best restaurants in Antwerp. French-Belgian cuisine specialized in brochettes. The interior has a great 1920’s vibe. On the menu you’ll find starters and dishes to share and of course their brochette mains. The skewers come in meat, fish and even a vegetarian variaty. Make sure to leave room for dessert as the Dame Blanche is delicious.

Charlie’s Antwerpen

Ellis Gourmet Burger

Ellis Gourmet Burger opened their first restaurant in Belgium and now has several restaurants in both Belgium and the Netherlands. You can find them in 9 cities including Antwerp, Leuven, Brussel and Brugge. Ellis Gourmet Burger has two locations in Antwerp.
They have three vegetarian/vegan burgers on their menu; the Beyond Burger, the Beyond Cheese Burger and the Crazy Red Veggie. I went for the latter. It’s a red pepper and soy burger with baby spinach leaves, rocket, pecan nuts and lime mayonnaise. It’s served on a nice toasted bun.
