When you’re going on vacation to Cyprus the offers of big hotels and resorts are aplenty. But if you’re like me and you prefer a less touristic experience I recommend you to book an authentic vacation home in Cyprus.
We rented a beautiful holiday home from NOVASOL Vakantiehuizen when we stayed in Cyprus. It looked just like a traditional old Cypriotic house, but it was well maintained and renovated so you had a comfortable home away from home.
Novasol on Cyprus
Novasol has several vacation homes in Cyprus. Most of them are located on the West coast. This region is very popular with tourists. We wanted to go ‘off the beaten track’, so we went for a vacation home that was a bit more remote. We booked a holiday apartment at Kalavasos/Tochni (code CYA102 on the Novasol website). You drive to the taverna in Tochni and there you’ll hear if you’re staying in an apartment in the town Tochni or the town Kalavasos 10 minutes away. No matter where you end up, you’ll always have an apartment with your own kitchen and a swimming pool for your use nearby.
Kalavasos
Our vacation home turned out to be in the town Kalavasos. Kalavasos is a traditional Cyprus village. It has a church and a school, two local shops and a supermarket and 3 tavernas. I loved taking a stroll around town on my first day. It’s great to have dinner outside at one of the taverna’s with all the locals around you on the warm evenings of Cyprus.
There’s a car park just opposite of the vacation home.
Vacation Home
Our vacation home was an apartment with our own kitchen, a bedroom with a big linnen closet and a bathroom. Towels and bedlinnen are provided. As was shampoo and body wash. The bed was very comfortable and had both soft as more hard pillows so you could pick your favorite.
The kitchen has a fridge, an oven, stove, a toaster, coffeemaker and water kettle. There’s plenty of cutlery, pans and plates so you’ve got everything handy during your stay. It even has a corkscrew so that you can enjoy a glass of wine at your holiday apartment! Because you have this convenient kitchen, you can easily prepare breakfast, lunch or dinner at your vacation home.
Our apartment had a nice outdoor area with a table and chairs where we could enjoy our breakfast on the warm mornings. The terrace was covered by trees so that you could sit in the shade. One of the trees gave us fresh lemons for our morning tea and the other tree gave us beautiful pink flowers for our holiday pictures.
There were 3 other apartments nearby and with the 4 houses we shared the rooftop pool. There were sun beds and a shaded area. Pretty good spot for an afternoon swim, isn’t it?
