Best restaurants on Formentera

On this page you can find the best restaurants on Formentera, the beautiful island in the Balearics. I’ve listed the restaurants from West to East Formentera. Underneath the name of the town you’ll find an overview with all my favorite restaurants there. All restaurants listed on this page have good vegetarian options. If a restaurant has good vegan food on their menu, I’ve mentioned it as well. I’m sure you won’t go hungry with all these great restaurants on Formentera!

La Salvina

La Salvina is where you get off the ferry in the North-West of the island. It’s a nice town with several nice restaurants. These are the two best restaurants in La Salvina if you ask me.

Can Carlitos

Can Carlitos in La Salvina serves great tapas. Attached to the restaurant they have a lovely covered terrace and they also have seats at the beach. They have several vegetarian dishes on the menu like the roasted eggplant with Parmesan shavings and the Coca bread with tomato and olive oil that I had.

Quimera Restaurant

Quimera is a Mediterrenean restaurant. They’ve got a lovely terrace and a few beach chairs on the sand.

Sant Francesc Xavier

Sant Francesc Xavier (or San Francisco Javier) is often called the capital ‘city’ of Formentera. It’s indeed a larger town and it has many nice restaurants. These 4 are my best restaurants of Sant Francesc Xavier.

Ca Na Pepa

Ca Na Pepa is a lovely little restaurant. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They’ve got an English menuy and several good vegetarian options. It can get very crowded at Ca Na Pepa on Formentera so it’s smart to book your table ahead.

Bona Espina

Bona Espina is open in the evenings, from 6pm to 2am. They have great tappas and it’s also a lovely place to go out for a cocktail.

Cafe Matinal

Cafe Matinal is a perfect spot in Formentera to have breakfast or brunch. They’ve got all the breakfast and lunch classics on the menu. Cafe Matinal is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30am to 3pm.

Restaurante Es Mares

Restaurante Es Mares is the restaurant of 4 star Hotel Es Mares and can be found in the center of San Francisco Javier. I mostly loved it because of the interior. The terrace has 3 open ‘walls’ so it’s perfect for warm days. And I love the white and sand colors combined with plants and trees.

Ca Na Joana

Ca Na Joana is open for dinner 7 days a week. From 8pm onwards you can enjoy your dinner in their beautiful garden.

Cap de Barbaria

There’s not much to see or do in Cap de Barbaria, but there’s a great reason to visit it: restaurant A mi Manera.

A mi Manera

I love A Mi Manera for their creative outdoor seating area alone. A Mi Manera Formentera also has a vegetable garden. The fruits, vegetables and herbs that they grow in their garden are used on their menu. They’re open for dinner 7 days a week (from 8pm onward).

Es Pujols

Es Pujols is as close a touristic town as it gets on Formentera. Here you can find beach side hotels and restaurants and bikini and souvenir shops. It’s very popular with Italian tourists, so you’ll find many Italian restaurants. I prefer going to Spanish ones instead, you are in Spain after all.

Can Vent

Can Vent (meaning House of the Wind) is a great restaurant with seaside views. They’ve got a big shady terrace and a part on the beach where you can sit in the sun. The picture at the top of this page is also taken at Can Vent, so you can see their beach side terrace. Can Vent is open all day from breakfast to lunch and dinner. They’ve got tapas on the menu, but you can also go for main dishes like their freshly caught fish. They have a big focus on locally farmed, fished and bought products. Because they work this way, the menu is different every day.
PLEASE NOTE: last time I checked Can Vent was closed. They’ll re-open under the name of Fandango

Integral

Integral in Es Pujols on Formentera is the perfect restaurant for people who want to eat healthy, vegetarian and/or vegan.

Bocasalina

I just love the interior of restaurant Bocasalina in Es Pujols. I think it’s so Instagrammable. The white tables, chairs and table linnen contrasting with the wooden ceiling and the many plants… it’s a real Instagram spot.

Sa Palmera

Sa Palmera is owned by a Formentera family. It’s a great option if you’re traveling on a budget and want some authentic Formentera food. You can find Sa Palmera right by the beach of Es Pujols.

Geckolateria

Geckolateria is the spot for a good ice cream! I went to their shop in Carrer Caragena but they also have one at Carrer de s’Espalmador. I went for Stracciatella and Cookies.

San Ferran

Blat Picat

The nickname of Blat Picat is ‘Bar de Vegetals’, so it’s a great spot if you want to eat vegetarian or vegan on Formentera.

Platja de Migjorn

Kiosko Ca Mari

Kiosko Ca Mari is located right on the beach at Platja de Migjorn, making it a perfect spot for a cold drink, lunch in the shade or a delicious ice cream to cool down on sunny days.

Es Calo

Restaurant Can Rafalet

Restaurant Can Rafalet in the town Es Calo on Formentera has a lovely terrace with a beautiful view over the water. They’re open for lunch and dinner.

Can Pasqual

I love the garden of restaurant Can Pasqual in Es Calo. They serve traditional ingredients and flavors from Formentera but with new techniques in a modern way. They’re open for lunch and inner (please not that they’re closed in between).

El Pilar de la Mola

Es Pilar de la Mola is the lighthouse at the most Eastern part of Formentera. Right next to the lighthouse is a restaurant: Codice Luna.

Codice Luna

After the walk to the lighthouse, it’s great to have a drink at Codice Luna. Grab a few of their tapas with a good glass of wine and you’re all set. They’re open 7 days a week from 10am to 11pm.
