Best Vegetarian Restaurants Athens

There are some restaurants with great vegetarian options in Athens, the capital of Greece. On this page I’ve listed my personal best vegetarian restaurants in Athens. All restaurants listed on this page have good vegetarian options.
Please note that they aren’t 100% vegetarian restaurants, but that they have good vegetarian options on their menu.

Mama Roux

Mama Roux definitely is one of my favorite restaurants in Athens. I’ve got a friend who lives in Athens and he took me there. The menu has all kinds of dishes. From all kinds of cuisines to all kinds of diets. They’ve got meat and fish dishes but also plenty vegetarian and vegan dishes. They’ve got salads and starters that are great to share. And for main dishes they’ve got tortillas, grill specialties, noodles and pastas. Pictured you see their vegan Buddha Bowl.

Taki 13

Taki 13, named after its address, is a nice restaurant with a sidewalk terrace in one of the nicest areas of Athens. Taki 13 has some great vegetarian options, like this vegetarian Moussaka pictured here. The feta-tomato dish pictured on top of this page is also from Taki 13.

Taverna Orea Penteli

Most tavernas in Athens sell the vegetarian dish Spanakopita, it’s a Greek savory pie often filled with spinach and feta cheese. I had this Spanakopita at Taverna Orea Penteli. It’s located on a slightly touristic square, but that also makes it a great lively spot for a nice evening out. When we were at Taverna Orea Penteli they had some musicians playing outside, adding to the atmosphere.

Glow Cafe

Glow Cafe isn’t only a very Instagrammable spot in Athens, it also has some great vegetarian and vegan food. They’ve got all kinds of smoothie bowls and cupcakes. They also always make special themed foods for special occasions like Halloween and Christmas.

Local Green

Local Green is a great food spot for healthy food lovers. They’ve got all kinds of salads, Buddha bowls and toasts. They’ve got plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. I love their avocado toast and you can also create your own healthy bowl.

Monastiraki Restaurant

Just like most traditional Greek restaurants, restaurant Monastiraki doesn’t have a long list of vegetarian options. But the ones they have are super tasty, I loved this aubergine with feta cheese and garlic bread for example. And the best thing about traditional restaurant Monastiraki is the view. You’ve got great views over ancient temples from their terrace.

Vegan Beat

Vegan Beat is a 100% vegan restaurant in Athens. They’ve got all kinds of vegan dishes from vegan burgers to vegan gyros. It’s not a super cosy spot, but it’s definitely great for vegans as there aren’t that many places in Athens where it’s this easy to eat vegan.

Hans & Gretel

Hans & Gretel makes you feel like a kid in a candy store. It’s like a dream come true. There’s candy as far as the eye can see and they even have got giant candy hanging from the ceiling. They’ve got all kinds of sweets and also ice cream, bubble waffles and chimney cake. The latter is is a cone made of a crispy dough with sugar and cinnamon that can be filled with all kinds of extras.

The Party Bar

Looking for a cosy bar to have a drink in Athens? Check out The Party. This colorful bar organises theme nights on a regular basis, but every night is nice at this cosy bar.

Balux Cafe

You can find Balux Cafe at the beach in Glyfada, a Southern suburb of Athens. Glyfada is a great destination for a day trip or even to stay the night. It’s a lively area with many bars and restaurants, perfect for the nights. And during the day you can relax at the beach, and have lunch at one of the beautiful beach bars like Balux Cafe.

Oh Mama

One of those nice bars/restaurants in Glyfada is Oh Mama. The interior alone is a reason to visit. It’s super cosy and because it has several levels, you’ve got all kinds of nice spots to sit down. But the menu is also great at Oh Mama. They’ve got delicious dishes, whether you want to share like these nachos or not, and they’ve got amazing cocktails.

Pere Ubu

One more tip for Glyfada: Pere Ubu. It’s a design restaurant with dishes from all over the world, from South American to East Asian. I went for one of the home-made flatbreads, this vegetarian one with mozzarella, courgette, aubergine, bell pepper and pesto. It was super tasty!

Maistros

At the South tip of Glyfada, at the Kavouri Beach, you can find Maistros. I have to admit that the service was a bit slow when we were there. But the location is so wonderful! The tables are set on a platform on the water, so you can see the clear blue waters and the fish swimming bye while you’re having lunch.

Taverna Galene

If you drive down the coast some more, further south of Glyfada, you’ll find some nice water-side tavernas. We had lunch at Taverna Galene, in Palea Fokea, just south of Anavyssos. The service was so good and the food so tasty. And I enjoyed the view and scenery every minute that we were there.
