During our road trip in the South of France we also spend a night in Nice. We found a wonderful hotel with a great philosophy: Hotel Le Florence. This eco-label awarded hotel is located in the city center of Nice, right next to the biggest shopping street.
It’s only a 5 minute walk to the sea and there’s a tram stop just around the corner. But apart from the location there are many other reasons to chose Hotel Le Florence during your stay in Nice.
First reason are the rooms. They were spacious, quiet and clean. And what I loved the most was that our room had 2 small balconies with a wonderful view of the old building with romantic shutters across the street. When we arrived in the afternoon I put a chair there to enjoy the afternoon sun. While I was working on my tan, my boyfriend was checking his emails, totally happy that the hotel had such good wifi.
Another good reason to choose Hotel Le Florence on your trip in the French Riviera is that it’s rewarded with the European Eco-label. In order to get and maintain this label they use environmental friendly products and materials, they sort waste and use water and electricity in an efficient way. You’ll notice some of these in your room as well; you have two small garbage bins so you can sort your waste for example.
They have a good breakfast buffet at Hotel Le Florence and most of the products are regional or fair-trade. It doesn’t mean that breakfast is boring by the way. There’s a lot to choose from; whether you go for a baguette with cheese or yogurt with muesli: you can pick whatever you like at Le Florence.
One thing really makes Hotel Le Florence stand out: they’ve got their own beehives on the roof! The husband of the hotel manager followed an extensive course to learn everything about keeping bees. With the hives they want to increase the biodiversity in the city. Did you know that 80% of plant species need to be pollinated by insects in order to reproduce themselves. And among these, 80% are pollinated by bees alone. The hotel also produces and sells their own honey.
