Hurray! I’ve got my own Vegetarian Food Tour in Tilburg! From now on everyone can book my Vega Foodie Tour and discover the great vegetarian food that my hometown Tilburg has to offer. The Vega Foodie Tour is an arrangement that you can book at Ticket to Tilburg. It’s a walk with four stops at restaurants in Tilburg. At every restaurant you get a delicious dish. Of course all the dishes are vegetarian. I’m super excited that everyone can now discover how good vegetarian food can be and what a couple of my favorite spots in Tilburg are.
The restaurants of the tour are located in the Spoorzone and the Piushaven. You can do the tour by foot, with your own bike or with a OV bike that you can rent at the train station. You can book the Vega Foodie Tour up to 24 hours in advance and you can do it whenever you want. The tour is bookable from Tuesday to Sunday and you can decide your own starting time. I recommend that you start early as the tour will take you a full evening to finish. I think 5pm is the perfect starting time.
You don’t have to with a big group, you can also book the tour for just 2 people. It’s a super nice date of course, but also great to do with a group of friends. It’s a complete night out and much more original than a regular 3 course menu at a restaurant.
Below I’m telling you more about the place you’ll go to with my Vega Foodie Tour. The pictures are as illustration, because all restaurants have a menu that changes regularly. Which dishes you’ll get exactly is always a surprise. Two things are for certain: it’s vegetarian and it’s super tasty. Oh and the dessert is also known; I can’t withhold the best chocolate cake of Tilburg from you of course.
You’ll start the Vega Foodie Tour at Doloris. This rooftop bar is located close to the central train station from Tilburg so it’s a great starting point for everyone coming by public transport. If you’ve never been to Doloris before it might be a bit strange to enter the freight lift, but once you’re upstairs you’ll understand why this is one of my favorite spots in Tilburg.
The interior is beautiful with warm colors and from the outdoor area you’ve got great views over the city. On the menu at Doloris you’ll find street-food dishes from all over the world. And during this vegetarian food tour Doloris shows you that those dishes can be vegetarian as well. You can for example get this ‘cauliflower steak’. If cauliflower would always be prepared this well, I would eat it every day!
When you’re done at Doloris you’ll walk or bike back in the direction of the train station for a bit and you’ll turn left into the Willem II street. You’ll find the next stop on your lefthand side.
I couldn’t create a vegetarian food tour in Tilburg without stopping at Waanzinnig. Long before everyone became a flexitarian, Restaurant Waanzinnig already had multiple vegetarian and even vegan dishes on the menu. As I’m a vegetarian myself, Waanzinnig has been one of my favorites for a long time. I even took a group of food bloggers from the whole country to Waanzinnig when I took them on a blogger tour in Tilburg.
The good food, like these vegan springrolls, isn’t the only reason why I love Restaurant Waanzinnig. The waiters and the chefs are people with a psychological vulnerability. They get great guidance from coaches and experienced waiters.
After Waanzinnig it’s time for a nice walk or bike ride to the Piushaven. You can continue walking in the direction you came from until you’re past the Katterug. There you’ll turn left onto the Paleisring. After that you can go right to the Piusstraat and left to the Koopvaardijstraat to get to the Piushaven. But locals can also take the shortcut through the Hoogvenne neighborhood.
3 Eethuis Twintig
The first restaurant at the Piushaven that you’ll try is Eethuis Twintig. Eethuis Twintig started a few years ago by 2 enthusiastic ladies. Current owner Thomas Inderfurth took over and is perhaps even more enthusiastic. Eethuis Twintig is the perfect spot for a nice drink and a delicious dinner. During your foodie tour you’ll get a taste of it. Owner Thomas and his team love to surprise their guests and themselves so it’s always a surprise which dish you’ll get at Eethuis Twintig. But you can be sure that it’s prepared with love and will look great.
When you’re done at Eethuis Twintig you continue your walk in the Piushaven a bit further until you’ve arrived at the last stop of the Vega Foodie Tour.
4 Good Mood Piushaven
For me, dinner isn’t complete without dessert. And something with chocolate is always the best. So when I was developing this vega foodie tour I knew straight away what the dessert should be: the best chocolate cake from Tilburg. And you can find that cake at Good Mood Piushaven. Chef Willem makes a chocolate cake which you’ll enjoy every bite. I can’t think of a better way to end the food tour than with this tasty dessert from Good Mood.
Close off the evening with a nice cup of coffee, glass of tea or a nice glass of wine at Good Mood.
You can book the Vega Foodie Tour Tilburg on the website of Ticket to Tilburg. The costs are €30,- per person. This includes reservation costs and excludes drinks, that you can just pay at the restaurant. But you’ll get 4 delicious vegetarian dishes and an original night out.
I would of course love it if you’ll be doing my Vega Foodie Tour! Feel free to tag me on Instagram (@anne_travel_foodie) and use the hashtag #vegafoodietour if you post something on social media. I’m looking forward to seeing your pictures.
