Last week I had dinner at Bistro St Sjaak in Tilburg. St Sjaak is a high quality restaurant that’s been on the Heuvelring since 2012. I checked TheFork.nl for their list of good restaurants in Tilburg for a date-night with my boyfriend and St Sjaak scored really high. We’ve been there before, but I liked to go again with him.
Bistro St Sjaak is located right in the city center on the Heuvelring. They’re open for dinner 7 days a week (they don’t serve lunch).
St Sjaak is known for their culinary classics. So you can find all the French haute cuisine dishes here; from escargots to frog legs. For vegetarians there’s less choice; the only vegetarian starter is this goat cheese salad with pearl couscous.
Bistro St Sjaak in Tilburg offers a 3 course menu from the chef for 29,50. But you can also choose your own dishes from the a-la-carte menu.
The main menu is divided in meat, fish, vegetarian and salads. The latter can be ordered as starters or mains. There are two vegetarian pastas on the menu. I had this vegetarian truffel risotto with mushrooms, rocket, Parmesan cheese and truffle. It was absolutely delicious! I’m a big truffle fan and I love risotto as well so this is a perfect combination for me!
I was quite full after my 2 meals with a lot of cheese, but my boyfriend has a sweet tooth so we did order dessert. We shared this cheesecake. It doesn’t taste like a New York cheesecake, but it was a very nice summer dessert. The bottom from Bastogne cookies is delicious and it had a caramel dressing over it.
