Many people like Nutella. But if you’ve ever seen an infographic about the ingredients of this chocolate spread you’ll think twice before eating it again. Nutella contains a shocking amount of 50% sugar and 23% palm oil. Only 20% is hazelnuts and chocolate. I’ve created a recipe for a healthy version of Nutella. It’s completely palm oil and sugar free, and besides it’s vegan too! On this page you can find the recipe for this healthy chocolate spread; it’s like a vegan and sugar-free Nutella.
The recipe is super easy to make. You’ll only need 5 ingredients and all you have to do is throw them in a blender or food processor. I was inspired by the cookbook Little Green Kitchen from Green Kitchen Stories for this recipe. They’ve got many vegetarian recipes on their website that you might want to check out!
You might find it dificult to find healthy sandwich toppings. Most of the classical sandwich toppings are quite unhealthy. Processed meat is linked to many diseases, cheese contains a lot of salt, jelly contains a lot of sugar. And if you also want to eat more vegan products, your options are even more limited. Luckily it’s real easy to make your own healthy sandwich toppings, like home-made hummus or this home-made Nutella.
Recipe vegan & sugar-free Nutella
Ingredients:
1 can (400grams) chickpeas, drained and washed
8 soft dates, pitted
3 tablespoons peanut butter
4 tablespoons cacao
2 tablespoons water or plantbased milk
Put all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and mix well. If the chocolate spread is too thick you can add some more water or plantbased milk.
Keep the vegan and sugar free Nutella in a jar in the fridge for 4 to 7 days.
