Het Wapen van Tilburg

I walk by restaurant and hotel Het Wapen van Tilburg almost everyday. It’s located really close to the central train station of Tilburg so every time I take the train I pass it. Het Wapen van Tilburg is the oldest hotel of my hometown Tilburg, this Inn has been around since 1876. But also if you aren’t staying in the hotel you can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner at Het Wapen van Tilburg.

We went to Het Wapen van Tilburg for dinner. You can choose dishes from the menu or go for the month menu which is only €24,50 for 3 courses. I went for the month menu and my boyfriend ordered a-la-care, so we had a bit of both. As a starter my boyfriend had a fish trio with a shrimp croquette, crayfish salad and a gamba. I had a celeriac soup with truffle and seeds.

As a main dish my boyfriend went for the Surf & Turf with truffle butter and I had the vegetarian risotto with mushrooms and rocket. It was a really big portion, so perfect comfort food! In general I think Het Wapen van Tilburg is a great spot for affordable comfort food.

After my big risotto portion I didn’t have room left for dessert, but luckily I could steal a few bites from his plate. He had a tasting of several sweets including traditional Dutch ‘boterkoek’ (butter cake) and a coconut cake served with ice cream, whipped cream and fresh pineapple.
