If you’re anything like me, brunch is one of your favorite parts of the weekend. Now imagine combining that with a beautiful historical location, a fun theme, and delicious food… Sounds perfect, right? That’s exactly what I discovered at the Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam.
This year, to celebrate the 145th anniversary of their Winter Garden (Wintertuin), the hotel is organizing 14 exclusive themed brunches. And believe me, this is not your average brunch. On this page I’m telling you all about the themed brunch at the Krasnapolsky hotel in Amsterdam.
A Magical Location in the Heart of Amsterdam
Let’s start with the location. The Winter Garden restaurant at the Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is a breathtaking space built in 1880. With high glass ceilings, impressive frescos, and natural light pouring in, it feels like you’ve stepped into another world. It’s one of those places where you look up, look around, and just say “wow”.
The space has so much history, and yet it feels fresh and lively, especially when decorated for the brunch themes. I loved how each event is totally transformed with creative touches, making every edition feel truly unique.
Each Brunch Has Its Own Story
The hotel has created a whole series of themed brunches for 2025, and each one celebrates something different. There’s a Great Gatsby Brunch with a glamorous 1920s vibe for example (perfect for dressing up!), and Magical Christmas Brunch in December.
I was lucky to attend the Mother´s Day Brunch. The luxurious buffet had all kinds of different bites, like Burrata, charcuterie, Dutch cheeses and sushi. They also had a station where you could order a warm dish like asparagus or entrecote. And there was a big dessert selection with brownies, pistache-strawberry cake and even a chocolate fountain. Everything was fresh, colorful, and beautifully presented. Bottemless drinks like Champagne or fresh orange juice were also included.
A Brunch for Everyone
What I really liked is that the brunches are not only for foodies like me. There’s live music and entertainment, and even a play corner for children. So whether you’re going with friends, your partner, or your family, there’s something to enjoy for everyone.
Also, the live cooking stations were a big highlight. It’s so nice to watch the chefs prepare your food on the spot, and it adds a personal touch to the whole experience.
Tastes of Amsterdam
Another thing I appreciated was how much attention they give to local flavors. The dishes are inspired by cultures from around the world, but they also include ingredients from local suppliers. It’s a great way to support the community and taste the real flavor of Amsterdam at the same time. I think I tried all of the local cheeses!
More Than Just a Meal
For me, this was more than just a brunch – it was an experience. Everything was thought through: from the beautiful setting and themed decorations to the music and entertainment. You could really feel the passion from the team behind it. As Mehrsa Ghadiri, the Food & Beverage Director, explained: ‘each brunch is a celebration of the city’s diversity and talent’.
So, if you’re planning a visit to Amsterdam in 2025, or if you’re local and looking for a special way to spend your Sunday, I can really recommend booking one of these themed brunches at Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Just be sure to come hungry and maybe wear something nice, because it’s not every day you get to brunch in a palace-like garden in the middle of the city.
