Are you visiting Kaunas, the second biggest city of Lithuania? There are some great food spots that you can visit. On this page I’ve listed my favorite restaurants in Kaunas. From good brunch spots, to authentic donuts and from luxury dinners to bar bites. On this page you’ll find all top food spots in Kaunas.
Monte Pacis
Monte Pacis is a really good restaurant located in the Pazaislis Monastery, just outside Kaunas. The Monastery is still in use, so in one half of the complex the nuns live and work and the other half is a restaurant and hotel. You can have a unique overnight-stay here, celebrate a party or have lunch or dinner in the luxurious restaurant Monte Pacis. I suggest you go for the wine pairing if you order your meals, as they’ve been rewarded best restaurant for wine lovers. We tried some Lithuanian berry wines and they were delicious!

DIA
Restoranas Dia is a restaurant that doesn’t only serve beautiful dishes, it also has a beautiful interior. The restaurant consists of three spaces. In the back you’ve got the bar and an elevated part of the restaurant. Here the ceiling is covered with hundreds of small wooden panels. The second part has wooden cabinets all over the wall, from floor to ceiling. In most of the squares you’ll find bottles of wine. And then there’s the urban garden in the front, where you can dine outside on warm summer days.
Restaurant Dia has got an extensive menu with high quality dishes for both meat and fish lovers as vegetarians.
Arrivee
Restaurant Arrivee is open for dinner on weekdays and lunch and dinner in the weekend. They focus on simplicity. Arrivee works with seasonal ingredients and pure flavors. They work with as many seasonal and local products as possible. You can find them in the heart of Kaunas where you can enjoy their dishes inside or in their lovely garden. Oh and a tip from me; even if you’re going for lunch, you will want to save some room for dessert!
Spurgine
Spurgine is a donut shop in the city center of Kaunas, on the main pedestrian street. Spurgine has had the same interior and the same donut recipe for decades. So it’s a great trip down memory lane when you enter Spurgine. They’ve been around for 4 decades, so they started in Sovjet times.
Chaika
Chaika is a vegan cafe and bakery in Kaunas. They opened up a restaurant in Vilnius first and after that success, they opened up in Kaunas as well. They’ve got hot ‘Chaika’ sandwiches and all kinds of cakes: all 100% vegan! The vintage interior will also satisfy interior decoration lovers.
Vista Puode
Vista Puode has three spaces that are all used for other occasions. The Svetaine opens up first, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast there. With homemade yoghurt, omelets and scrambled eggs, they’ve got all the breakfast classics at Vista Puode. On the first floor you can find Traktierius, it opens at noon and you can enjoy food here until dusk. The Restoranas is open for dinner and is mostly known for its tasting experience.
