Summer is coming! It’s time to have a good overview of the best ice cream spots in Tilburg and you’ve found it right here. On this page I’m sharing all great spots to get an ‘ijsje’ in Tilburg. Most ice cream spots in Tilburg are open from March 1 to November 1. So check out where you can get a nice cone or cup with your favorite ice cream flavors.
Vittorio
Probably the most special ‘ice cream shop’ at the so called Karvansara from Vittorio at the Piushaven. Vittorio once flew from Iran and made Tilburg his new home. He’s one of the most hospitable people I’ve ever met. He created his own spot at the harbor next to the ‘draaibrug’. Here he created a living room with lights and chairs. He sells delicious Persian ice cream but you’re also welcome if you just want to sit down and chat with the other guests.
Intermezzo
The most popular ice cream shop in Tilburg is Intermezzo. They have two shops on the Heuvelring and both get very crowded on sunny days. They’ve got a lot of flavors, almost too much to choose from! They’ve also got a few lactose-free, vegan and sugar-free options.
Huize Geers
Not everyone in Tilburg knows about Huize Geers, which is a shame as it’s such a wonderful place. They sell homemade chocolates year-round and ice cream in the summer. They’ve been making chocolates since 1937, today the 4th generation is running the chocolate shop. They’ve got around 12 ice cream flavors of which half is ice cream and the other half is sorbet. The sorbet flavors are made with more fruit and less sugar and they’re also suitable for vegans.
The Nacho Bar
In the spring of 2024 The Nacho Bar, that was thusfar open for nachos, snacks, cocktails and €1 beers, opened up an ice cream shop. They’ve made a special window where you can order your soft serve. They’ve got different kind of toppings that they put on top of the vanilla soft serve in a coconut bowl, like Speculoos or Oreo.
The Fat Greek
The Fat Greek is known for its American-Greek dishes, but as of spring 2021 TFG also sells ice cream. They’ve got 5 different flavors: strawberry, chocolate, caramel, Speculoos and blueberry with candy. You can find them at the Oude Markt, next to Anvers.
Porto koffie en ijs
Porto Koffie en ijs is a nice spot in the Piushaven to go for an ice cream and a good cup of coffee. You can pick your flavors for a cone or a cup, or go for one of their ice cream sundaes. They also have a large list of coffee specialties for your caffeine fix.
Friandries
You might know exclusive chocolatier Friandries from his chocolates with interesting flavor combinations. But as of 2021 they also serve ice cream in their shop on the Willem II straat near the central station in Tilburg. Just like their chocolates, the ice creams of Friandries come in original flavors like ‘Spiced Pecan’ with pecan, orange and spices or ‘Drop Down Passion’ with licorice and passion fruit. They also have vegan ice cream at Friandries in Tilburg.
IJskoning
In Tilburg West, at the edge of the Wandelbos, you can find the IJskoning every summer. Owner Bart is the 4th generation, his great-grandfather started the ice cream cart. You can order your ice cream flavor in a cone or an edible cup and you can enjoy it on one of his plastic seats or on a blanket on the grass.
You can also find the IJskoning at the entrance of the Spoorpark on most sunny days.
Piazza del Gelato
Piazza del Gelato is the pop up ice cream spot of restaurant de Groene Vlinder in the Reeshof in Tilburg. They’ve got all kinds of ice cream flavors (18 in total), but also milkshakes, Sundaes and Belgian waffles with several different toppings. They’re open seven days a week, on weekdays from noon to 5pm and on Friday and Saturday until 7pm.
Dutch Homemade
Dutch Homemade is a small shop in the city center mostly selling macarons. But this shop at the Frederikstraat (between the Heuvelstraat and the Pieter Vreedeplein) also sells ice cream. They’ve got around 8 flavours for your cup or cone.
‘t IJsboerinneke, Moergestel
On sunny days, I love to bike to Moergestel to have ice cream at ‘t IJsboerinneke. Their ice cream is made from the milk from their own cows. It doesn’t get any fresher than this! They always have 18 different flavors of ice cream. They change the flavors almost daily, which makes their assortment very diverse. They also adjust their flavors as the season changes and enjoy trying out new and unique flavors. Furthermore, ‘t IJsboerinneke tries to use products from their own vegetable garden whenever possible; like herbs, vegetables, and fruit.
