If you’re planning a get-away to Belgian beach town Ostend you’ll have to book a room at Upstairs. Upstairs is my favorite hotel in Ostend (or Oostende as it’s called in Flemish).
Ostend is a great coastal town in Belgium with many nice sights and activities. The Upstairs Hotel is located in the middle of Ostend, right next to the beach. On this page I’m telling you all about my favorite hotel in Oostende.
The entrance of the Upstairs Hotel in Oostend is already a real eye catcher. You know from the minute you set foot in Upstairs that it’ll be a hotel with an eye for design. It’s not your standard 13 a dozen hotel. Upstairs has a thought-out concept that comes back in every detail, both in the rooms as in the public areas. It makes it a great hotel for travellers rather than tourists. Besides, the location is perfect! It’s a few meters to the beach and a few meters to the city center with its shops and restaurants.
The design of Upstairs is industrial with warm colors like dark green. Touches of leather and black. And hints of their house-color yellow. I took this picture in the lobby and you see the neon sign ‘Please smile at Strangers’ in the background. We also had a neon sign in our room that said ‘you’re looking gorgeous today’.
Speaking of our hotel room at Upstairs. It was so well designed! You can see a picture of our bed at the top of this page. And here you see our bathroom. The room also had a desk, two fauteuils with a small table and a coat rack. Besides the neon letters it also had a boxing ball and a big board on the wall with bingo numbers. The rooms at hotel Upstairs also had a raw, industrial feel to it. Some of the walls had the bricks visible and other walls had a concrete color.
Upstairs Hotel has an extensive breakfast buffet that will please everybody’s needs. If you’re in Oostende but you aren’t staying at the hotel you can still enjoy their breakfast buffet. Just report at the desk between 7 and 11 am.
