Looking for a very unique overnight stay this summer? Book a Box and Breakfast!
Instead of a Bed and Breakfast, this is a Box and Breakfast. You’ll stay in a glass ‘box’ in the middle of nature, a really special experience! Going back to basics and waking up with a view of trees, plants and butterflies is not something you do daily when you live in a city. There are 5 ‘boxes’ in the area of the town Boxtel in Brabant. A very smart play on words from the Boxtel municipality, don’t you think?
Me and my boyfriend spend a night in one of the boxes and I loved it! It is a bit like camping as there’s no running water or electricity. Don’t worry; there’s a lamp, a power-bank, a portable toilet and a jerrycan with water to wash your hands. And very important: there’s a very comfortable bed. Or should I say BOXspring?
We stayed at the Box and Breakfast location called ‘Dommel’, it was located very close to the river Dommel and was a great starting point for a walk along the river. There are Roman excavations nearby and you can visit the town of Boxtel for dinner.
There are four Bed&Breakfasts in the area that help running the Box and Breakfast. With our stay Geert from Cultuurlogies Looeind helped us. We picked up the key at his B&B and together we drove to a street close to our Box. We walked the last part until we saw our transparant sleeping-unit appear in the middle of the plants and trees. Geert was a great chaperone and showed us everything there was to know about our stay. He also gave us a bag with our breakfast for the next day. We enjoyed our sandwiches, cheese, jam, boiled eggs, fruit and warm coffee and tea the next morning.
A stay in a Box and Breakfast is a wonderful experience to do with a friend or with your partner. A one-night stay is also a great gift, you can buy a giftcard on the Box and Breakfast website.
