Because we just moved to our new house I didn’t have time to write about the Grand Blogger Dinner yet. But this event organized by Mr Goodiebag is always so special, that I still wanted to share it with you. There are Grand Blogger Dinners in cities all over Europe so the location is always different but it’s always a dinner for food bloggers with products from local brands. Last year I couldn’t make it to the Grand Blogger Dinner as I was in Berlin but the year before I joined The Grand Blogger dinner 2017 in the Conservatorium Hotel. The Grand Blogger Amsterdam 2019 edition took place on June 27, one day before we moved into our new house.
The Grand Blogger Dinner Amsterdam 2019 took place at Het West-Indish Huis, one of the most historic buildings in the city. It was the former headquarter of the Dutch West India Company. In this building the governors ordered to build a fort at an island that we now know as Manhatten. We were welcomed in the courtyard with a refreshing ‘mocktail‘. This alcohol free cocktail was made with San Pellegrino. San Pellegrino is celebrating its 120 year old existence with a limited edition diamond bottle. The bottle is available at the better restaurants and at special events.
The first dish that we got at the Grand Blogger Dinner was this pineapple carpaccio. For the non-vegetarians it was served with shrimps, and for the vegetarians like myself it was topped with sun-dried tomatoes. It was sprinkled with Filippo Berio olive oil. A nice starter for summer nights.
The second course was made by Taste Amsterdam. The others got salmon but I was very happy with my vegetarian dish with burrata. It was also served with artichokes, green beans, black olives and cheese.
The table decoration was from Casa; a Casa shop has just opened up in my hometown Tilburg so I’m sure going to have a look around!
The third course was presented by Stoffels Tomaten (tomatoes). Stoffels is a Belgian tomato grower that grows all kinds of tomatoes. For this tomato salad they made a green herb coulis with spinach first, it is topped with blanched tomatoes, herb cheese and red onion.
The fourth dish was made with Lassie’s pearl couscous. The others got an oriental curry with mussels, and I got a version with vegetarian ‘chicken’. Lassie has these pearl couscous in the supermarket in super handy 1 person portion pouches. You just hang a bag for each person in boiling water and in a few minutes it’s done.
The dessert was a Dutch cheese selection with Henri Willig cheeses. Henri Willig has been making high quality cheeses since 1974. On our cheese platter we had four different cheeses; organic Gouda from Jersey cow’s milk, organic green pesto cheese, sheep’s cheese with rosemary and time and extra old goat’s cheese.
