Weekend getaway: Hotel Blooming in Bergen aan Zee

Looking for a nice destination for a weekend getaway in the Netherlands? Go to Bergen! This beautiful little beach town has wonderful options for seaside walks, mountain biking, wellness and fine dining.
Bergen is located above Alkmaar, about 45 minutes by car from Amsterdam. And even though it’s relatively close tot he capital city of The Netherlands you’ll feel like you’re on vacation in a whole other country. Making Bergen not only attractive to travelers exploring the Netherlands, but also for locals who want to go on a weekend getaway in their own country.

My favorite hotel in Bergen is Hotel blooming. Even though it’s been around for a few years, it feels like it’s completely new. They pay a lot of attention to the interior; it changes regularly but you can always count on fresh cut flowers from their own garden.
All the rooms are slightly different but expect a nice array of colors and a CocoMat mattress. The hotel also has a swimming pool, sauna and massage facilities.

Hotel blooming has its own restaurant in the hotel, but you can also walk to the beach and have lunch or dinner at their beach pavilion blooming beach which is open from spring till autumn.

In the morning the restaurant is used for an extensive breakfast buffet. With many kinds of bread, fruit, cereal, eggs and many other delicious goodies.
