Beach pavilion Blooming Beach

Warm summer days are behind us but that doesn’t mean you can’t go to the beach anymore! As a matter of fact, I love going to the beach on a windy day! It’s great to make a long beach walk with the wind in your hair and to warm up afterwards at a cosy beach pavilion for a good lunch or dinner.
From Amsterdam you could go to Egmond aan Zee, Bergen aan Zee or Schoorl.
My favorite is Bergen aan Zee, a small town above Alkmaar just 45 minutes from Amsterdam. But you can easily combine them and visit all 3 towns in one day.

beachclub-bergen-aan-zee-My favorite restaurant in Bergen aan Zee is blooming beach. They’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also offer several activities like yoga and Stand Up Paddle boarding. blooming also has a hotel, so you can book your accommodation there as a perfect base to explore the area (read more about the hotel here).
Curious what they have on the menu? Check out my food pictures of blooming beach.

As a starter of our dinner I had this red beet carpaccio with yellow beet, raspberry, radish, nuts and balsamic. The special thing about this starter, apart from the beautiful colors, is that almost all the ingredients come from their own garden!

blooming beach bergen aan zeeThis dish looks as pretty as a main dish, but it was just an extra course. It’s pearl barley with rocket, grana padano cheese and edible violets. It was almost too pretty to eat.

vegetarische risotto blooming beach
My main dish made everyone at the table go ‘I should go for the vegetarian dish next time’. It’s risotto with oyster mushroom, truffel, shiitake, asparagus and grana padano. It was incredibly tasty. Especially because of the oyster mushrooms and truffel.

I always have room for dessert! Especially when it’s this nice white chocolate panna cotta with passionfruit, strawberries and blackberries!
