Coffee Cafe Buutvrij in Tilburg

Creative Coffee Cafe Buutvrij in Tilburg has been a personal favorite from before I started my blog. And since I mostly write blog posts about new food spots that I discover, I never wrote a blog post on Buutvrij before. I do mention them on my blog post with food favorites in Tilburg and it was the first stop of the first Food Blogger Tour Tilburg I organized in 2017. But I thought Buutvrij deserved their own blog post too.

The two ladies Bibi and Marieke started coffee café Buutvrij 6 years ago and it’s been successful since the start. The call themselves a ‘Creative Coffee Café’ and that’s because they value creativity. There’s an ever changing art exposition on the walls and they regularly organize singer/songwriters evenings. Buutvrij was one of the firsts coffee bars in Tilburg and was ahead of the interior design trend of wood, second hand furniture and an industrial look with many plants.

Buutvrij is mainly known for its lunches. The lunch menu changes regularly but an all-time classic (and favorite of my boyfriend and me) is the ‘truffeltastisch’. This sandwich with truffle sauce comes as a meat version (my boyfriend’s favorite) and as a vegetarian version (my favorite). Other great breakfast/brunch/lunch dishes include grilled cheese sandwiches and salads.

Since the beginning of 2019, Buutvrij has expanded their business on the Stationsstraat in Tilburg. They opened up two more spaces; one work space and one space that you can hire for meetings or groups. We organized a baby shower for a friend and had it there. We booked a healthy high-tea with savory dishes for us 10 and didn’t have to pay extra for the space. It was really nice to have a separate space for the baby shower.
